Workshops Location: Full Out Studio 1225A 7th St Oakland 6:30-8:30pm Sadie specialty class "The Mood Behind the Moves" Perhaps the most important component of dance aesthetics is what the dancer gives emotionally in performance also known as the concept of "tarab" in Arabic. The ability to express ourselves through the dance is also what fulfills us on a personal and spiritual level.In this workshop we will approach technique with the purpose of expressing feeling and emotion rather than just thinking of steps, counts, or choreography. Saturday January 12 Workshops Location: Full Out Studio 1225A 7th St Oakland 11am-1pm Sadie “SHIMMMMMMMY TIME" The shimmy is the dancers fingerprint. No two people will shimmy the same. Having a strong shimmy is an essential part of the bellydancers repertoire. Are you ready to develop your signature shimmy? This workshop will cover the many variations of shimmies as well as add some exciting layers and Sadie’s signature shimmy combos. It's a great workout and enhances coordination. Get ready to sweat and shimmy like you never have before! 1pm-3:30pm Lebanese Simon "Oriental Pop choreo" Hot, energizing, sexy, pop-modern choreography to music by Lebanon’s greatest stars. Lebanese Simon will be bringing his personal style and most intricate and juicy combinations to the class! 4-5:30 Lebanese Simon "The Dabke- Middle Eastern Folklore – Technique and Combinations" This class begins with an introduction to Lebanese dabke: the basic 6 count line dance with three combinations of different levels of complexity, and the different rhythm and lyric dialect variations used. The class continues with dance combinations covering some of the Lebanese folk combinations vs. Palestinian folk combinations and other regions. We will cover the influence of theatre on folklore dance especially in the region of Lebanon. Gala Show Location: 3105 Shattuck Ave Berkeley Doors 7:30, Show 8pm Featuring Sadie and Lebanese Simon Special guest performers: Roxxanne Shelaby, Tatiana Werya, Maria Sokolova, Tammy, Basinah, Mychelle Crown, Andalee, Tabitha, Almaz, Asheq Collective, Sandra and Khamsin Sunday January 13 Workshops Location: Dance Mission 3316 24th St San Francisco 12-2 Sadie "Sadie's kick ass drills and luscious layers" Layering is the ultimate Bellydance skill. Sadie's layering techniques and and Kick Ass Drills will allow all levels of dancers including beginners to start having fun with layers while challenging even the most advanced dancers and teachers. Get ready to create some seriously Luscious Layers! 2:45-4:45 Sadie "Are you ready to DRUM SOLO?! " Experience the full potential of a Drum Solo, Sadie style. Sadie is world renowned as an authority on the bellydance drum solo and literally does not skip a beat. Learn how to apply her "Drum Solo Secrets" in one of Sadie's stellar Drum Solo choreographies.
